Ah, so bike 'technology' has moved forward too? Its good to hear the saddles are comfier - I was dreading the prospect of having to get a razor saddle...ouch!

Did the boys ever agree/scoff at the prospect of gettng a trailery thing? And do people still use bike clips these days? I have a childhood memory of being stuck outside a chums house with my trouser leg well and truely jammed in the chain. I could neither go forward nor backwards, and was contemplating trying to actually lift the bike back home when *finally* my trouser was released. I still blush now at the mortification of it all. Then explain the oily (and ruined) trousers to Mum...!

Well, unlike in our former bike-riding days, the wheels and the saddle and even the handle-bars all have quick-release buttons these days. You can pop the front wheel off and chain it to the back, grab the saddle and take it indoors with you.

It's a bit of a pest, but less of a pest than having it nicked.

And saddles are much more comfy now!

I was out pumping up the tyres the other day after a winter in the garage. I'm contemplating getting one of those trailery things for at least one of the boys to increase my opportunities to get out on the bike. Not sure they'll go for it though.

Jools, you've inspired me to get a bike. I'm currently at the denial stage, and although Mike wants one my biggest argument against it where would I store it in my flat? Put it in the close, and it'll get nicked for sure. Or bits of it will. Like the wheels. But...I'm thinking that it's the right way to go. Keep us updated please on your pedalling exploits! The good weather is nearly here!!

Hey ..... you shouldn't try to traumatise me AGAIN ... at my age and being thousands of miles away. I suggest put bikes in the 'van', drive to Valley Forge and try out your new found skills on safer routes over the next few weeks.
