Back On The Wagon

I nipped along to our local Weight Watchers office this morning during their open hours and rejoined.

Last autumn I was trucking along, losing weight and eating well and feeling very smug. Then I got derailed. Getting re-railed has proved harder than joining in the first place, but I think I’m finally ready.

It helps that I’ve been reading this book, about the pitfalls of the Western Diet and how we should really just eat real food, which is exactly what they say at WW.

(In case you can’t see it, the band around the lettuce reads: Eat Food. Not Too Much. Mostly Plants.)

Then he goes on to point out how much of the stuff in the supermarket doesn’t qualify as ‘food’, but since they killed the Imitiation Foods rule in the 1970s, you can market anything as, say, ‘sour cream’ as long as it kinda looks like sour cream.)

It has been inspiring me to eat fresh and whole foods (when I’m not eating crisps. And ice-cream is a whole food, right?), so I thought, why not get back on the WW bandwagon while I’m at it.

This has absolutely nothing to do with seeing one of the grandmothers from my old WW class the other morning and thinking how vibrant she looked. She was bundled up in a big winter coat so I have no idea how her waistline looks, but her face looked fab.

And it has nothing to do with certain people in my family being on the plan and having already lost half a stone.

I never knew I was so competitive…
